The Green Plantain, a SusanasBooks production, is a podcast about the lives of Cubans in exile and Cuba – covering stories which span over sixty years of the Cuban diaspora. These are the stories of everyday people, like you and me. The stories vary in the mood – you might laugh, cry, or simply be inspired. Most definitely, you will walk away with a bit of Cuban history. These are the true stories of Cubans here and there. The Green Plantain – The Cuban Stories Project.
No Oranges for You! was our pilot recording for SusanasBooks Podcast series which was launched in July 2020. Since then we re-published the recording. The project was launched as the Green Plantain with an overview of what the podcast series is about. The episodes are published every other week, on Tuesdays – We can’t wait to share.
In 2021, we launched Microbursts and Microráfagas which are my conversations with family and friends. They are usually short, and can be funny, serious, or candid…hope you will tune in! Notice the yellow or red logo on the feed which depicts the podcast language.
Please drop us a line, if you are Cuban, or a descendant and you would like to share your story.
Our podcast is available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, Apple podcasts, iTunes, tuneIn, Google Podcasts, Radio Public, Overcast, Castbox, Pandora, and Listennotes.com or just say, “Alexa, play the latest release of the Green Plantain podcast.”

Felicitaciones 👏👏👏👏
Tu prima de Venezuela, Maritza 🥰
Bueno prima, ya sabes. Espero grabar tu historia.
Although not Cuban, it gives me some insight into life there now and in the past through your wonderful story telling.
Michelle,
Thanks for listening. It’s heartwarming to know these stories reach so many people. S.
I look forward to hear the stories. My Mother was born and raised in Santa Clara and had amazing and sad stories of her life there.
Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I love the fact that your mom is from my hometown! Do you have any stories you would like to share on the podcast? I’m also collecting short interviews as anecdotes. Thanks again, S.
